In all, 26 units are connected in the video-conference system. Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmikantham said the centralised video-conference unit will save the precious time of the police officers as they need not attend the meetings physically at the office of the commissionerate.

Due to increasing traffic problem, the police could not physically attend all the meetings, he added. The unit could be used for file sharing, chatting and exchange of information.
