Food is being prepared at these centres under unhygienic conditions. There has been spurt in the number of these centres in the town in the recent time.

The food served at these centres is harmful to health, warn doctors. Those who consume the foods have been suffering from diseases like gas trouble, burning in stomach, hepatitis and others.

The doctors attribute these problems to unhygienic conditions under which the food items being prepared.

A glance at these centres shed light on how health is compromised to make a fast buck.

A large number of these curry points and other food outlets were set up close to drains and dusty roads.

The dust from roads settles on the food items while insects and mosquitoes form part of the curries in most of the cases.

The items used for preparation of curries including mutton, fish and chicken are stored till they get rotted. The oils and ingredients used in preparation are of inferior quality.

The officials are coming under fire from the customers for not keeping a close watch on the functioning of the centres. Routine inspection of these outlets would save people from harmful diseases, they opine.
