‘Vijayawada Fiesta’ commences in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Music Academy commenced ‘Vijayawada Fiesta’, the music festival in memory of Sadguru Thyagarajaswamy from Saturday at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College. This festival will be continued till 20th of this month.
The festival was inaugurated by noted violin maestro Annavarapu Ramaswamy. While speaking on this occasion, Ramaswamy said that it was a great privilege to the artistes to perform for the esteemed organisation.
Another music legend Komanduri Seshadri, president of the festival committee, requested the public of Vijayawada and surroundings to come and enjoy the flavour of classical music.
The main speaker of the day Dr Bhusurapalli Venkateswarlu, a popular literary exponent, quoted the divine outlook of Saint Thyagarajaswamy.
He said that Saint never approached anybody for support at any point of his life. He also said that Thyagarajaswamy had given treasure to society for the better lifestyle.
Senor journalist C Raghavachari, Dr MC Das, Ambati Madhumohana Krishna and Pilla Lakshmi Prasad also spoke on the occasion.
The festival commenced with the vocal concert of Anuvrata Narasimhan (Chennai) with Thyagaraja krithi Undedi Rama. The audience were impressed with the melodious vocals of Anuvratha.
This concert was supported by VSPG Shivani on violin, Kundurthy Aravind on mridangam and M Haribabu on ghatam.
This was followed by another vocal concert of Sattiraju Venumadhav of Hyderabad, violin concert of Vijamuri Srinivasa Subhash (USA) and another vocal concert of CVP Sastry.
All the concerts made the audience happy. On second day morning, the programme stated with the veena recital of G Bhramara and followed by another veena concert of Nimmagadda Sujana of Hyderabad, vocal by S Anjali and S Vishnupriya of Hyderabad, another duet by Nimmagadda Sujana and Sumana, C Usha Sastry and C Trishya, vocal solo by RL Krishna Priya, and K Subrahmanyeswara Raju.
