Two get one-year jail for cheating

Vijayawada: The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday sentenced two persons--Gantadi Srinivas,34, of Rajarajeswaripeta and MD Jakaraiah alias Jilani,56 of Gudiwada, to one-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each after charges under Section 420 against them were proved.
The convicted duo cheated K Jhansi of Kothapeta and a few others on the pretext that they would get them houses at YSR Colony in Jakkampudi and collected about Rs 1.5 lakh from each of them and even issued fake iris scan receipt.
However, the accused could not get houses to the victims. The victims lodged a complaint against Srinivas and Jilani who were arrested on October 15, 2015. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court convicted and sentenced them to one-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
