Vijayawada: The unaided teaching and non-teaching staff of Maris Stella College staged a protest at the college campus here on Thursday.

The protest was held as per the instructions of the unaided teaching and non-teaching state working committee.

The protest at Maris Stella College was headed by Dr Josephin Sandhya Rani. She said that the protest was organised at all the aided colleges across the state from Thursday.

The agitators demanded that the government provide minimum time scale for teaching and non-teaching staff who were working since a long time.

She further demanded that the government cancel GO No 35 and protect the private aided colleges which were providing qualitative and value-based education to the students and do justice to the unaided teaching and non-teaching staff.

About 80 teaching and 50 non-teaching staff and students participated in protest.
