Amaravati: The State government has sanctioned 15 new residential schools in the State at a cost of Rs 502 crore to provide admission to 14,200 students.Interacting with the students of social welfare residential schools, the Chief Minister said the new residential schools were sanctioned in Kotabommali-Srikakulam district, Narasayapalem-Guntur, Pasivedala-West Godavari, Peddapuram-East Godavari, Vellatur-Krishna, Kovelampadu-Prakasam, Gottiprolu-Nellore, Palamanda- Chittoor, Pattikonda-Kurnool and Chomandepalli-Anantapuram district.
He said over 1,12,000 students are getting education through 188 social welfare residential schools in the State.The Chief Minister said English medium, digital and virtual classroom facilities will be introduced in all residential schools. He praised the students for getting pass percentage of 95 in tenth class last year on par with corporate schools.
The Chief Minister pointed out that 150 students qualified in NEET 2017-18 and 82 students in IIT entrance. He said 10 students got admission in MBBS and two students in BDS, 11 students were selected for World Maker Fair, New York and five students qualified in Japanese language test.
The Chief Minister asked the Japanese language qualified students to act as his interpreters during the visit of Japanese delegates.
He said career guidance programme was offered to 22,000 students and skill development programme to 10,000 students besides providing training in IT and English communication skills.Tadepallligudem residential school student Gowrav Samdeepak bagged gold medal in international under-12 karate championship, 14 students scaled Everest in last two years and several other students got place in Guinness Book of World Records in Kolatam, Kuchipudi and Ambedkar dance form.
Four students were selected for World Memory championship, six students bagged Telugu book of records and two students bagged bronze medals in national wrestling championship.The Chief Minister said that the State government has been providing education to students of social welfare residential schools on par with corporate schools. He said students should make use of the opportunity to reach highest positions in the society.
