Eluru: The progress in the works relating to the construction of houses to the displaced families of Polavaram project is going on at a snail’s pace.

The housing works needed to be expedited to meet the weekly targets, said Joint Collector M Venugopal Reddy.

He reviewed the relief and rehabilitation package for the evacuees of the project here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, he directed the officials to avail the funds released by the government and ensure progress in works as planned.

Though the government was releasing funds liberally, the officials have been lagging behind in meeting targets of housing.

He urged the engineers to include pending work during next week and complete the works as planned during next week. He said bills were being paid to the works from time to time without any delay.

Stating that the housing works completion date was extended, the Joint Collector asked the officials to remind the same and finish all the works by March.
