Eluru: With election code coming into force for conducting Legislative Council Graduates Constituency polls, the officials should strictly adhere to the Election Code, said in-charge District Collector M Venugopal Reddy.

He held a video-conference with revenue divisional officials and Tahsildars from Eluru on Monday and warned the officials of stern action, if they failed to follow the code in strict conformity.

He said no official should attend the meetings and programmes organised by political parties. They should remove any posters or portraits of political leaders from the offices. They should not get influenced by political parties and perform their duties impartially.

The in-charge Collector asked the officials to remove hoardings relating to government schemes from public places and posters on APSRTC buses.

Permission from MCMC is mandatory for the exhibition of campaign of government schemes in cinemas.

Reddy directed the officials to inspect facilities at 133 polling stations in 48 mandals for MLC elections. Any problem related to voter list and polling station should be brought to the notice of the Election Cell arranged at the Collectorate.

DRO N Satyanarayana, Trainee Assistant Collector Aditya Praveen, DEO Renuka, RWS SE Amareswara Rao, DMHO Dr Subrahmanyeswari, BC Corporation ED Pushpalatha and other officials were present.
