Vijayawada: In view of the forthcoming elections to Parliament, Telangana prohibition and excise commissioner Somesh Kumar on Wednesday held a meeting with deputy commissioners and senior officials of prohibition and excise department of Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad.

Somesh Kumar said that they had discussed at length the inter-state cooperation and vigilance on the borders. They discussed closure of all types of liquor outlets from 5 km from the Telangana state border 48 hrs before conclusion of poll day.

Establishing temporary check posts on the strategic points of border, if required, keeping a watch on old offenders of excise crimes, exchange of information and inputs between the counterparts of bordering states and prevention of inflow of liquor from the border were also discussed, he said.

Telangana chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar, AP excise commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena, and deputy commissioners from Eluru, Kakinada, Krishna, Guntur, Anantapur, Chittoor and Kurnool district also participated in the meeting.
