In order to restore the Indian classical music with the help of technology, Andhra University Music and Dance Department launched Dr Nedunuri Krishna Murthy Digital Library A collection of Indian classical music that dates back to a different era produced by stalwarts of the Indian classical music was stored in the digital library
Visakhapatnam: In order to restore the Indian classical music with the help of technology, Andhra University Music and Dance Department launched ‘Dr Nedunuri Krishna Murthy Digital Library. A collection of Indian classical music that dates back to a different era produced by stalwarts of the Indian classical music was stored in the digital library.
The music compositions and live concerts of legends like Gudalur Narayanaswamy Balasubramaniam, Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar, Musiri Subramania Iyer, Sripada Pinakapani, Semmangudi R Srinivasa Iyer and Nedunuri Krishna Murthy were preserved in this digital library to give demonstrations to teachers, research scholars and students of both Carnatic and Hindustani Music.
The creative music like Ragalapana and Swarakalpana can also be found in this digital library. This digital library has the music which was compiled from different sources, which cannot be traced in YouTube.
In the age of pop, rap, rock and hip-hop genres, Andhra University intends to preserve Indian classical music and take it forward to the next generation.
Classical music is unique in different regions. According to Head of Music and Dance Department, Andhra University, K Saraswati Vidhyardhi, the digital library aims not only to enhance the singing skills of the students and offers a rare experience to the visitors, who come to watch recorded concerts at the premises.
