CPM asks State govt to conduct panchayat polls

Vijayawada: CPM State committee secretary P Madhu asked the State government to conduct elections for panchayats immediately. Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, he said that the tenure of sarpanches in panchayats expired in August last year but the government is yet to hold elections.
He said that though the High Court directed the State government to conduct elections, the elections were not conducted so far. The villages are being deprived of development in the absence of elected representatives, he said.
