Delhi: Tata Kite 5 sedan has been unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo along with Tata Hexa and Nexon. Tata Kite 5 compact sedan is based on the XO platform, same as that of the Zica hatchback. Spied on test on a number of occasions, the new Tata Kite 5 sedan will replace the existing Indigo eCS in the private car market once launched.

Both petrol and diesel engine options will be offered on the Kite sedan. These are to include a new 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine offering 85 PS power and 110 Nm torque and a new 1.0 liter diesel engine capable of 70 PS power and 140 Nm torque. Both these engines are three cylinder mills. The petrol is from Revotron family, while diesel is from Revotorq family.

Interiors will sport a new three spoke steering wheel, new dashboard design and instrument panel along with premium upholstery. Tata Kite sedan will also borrow a few features from the Tata Zest compact sedan.

On board features will include a Harman infotainment system with 8 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls and navigation system. The Tata Kite sedan also receives dual airbags, ABS, electrically adjustable ORVMs and voice command.

Once launched, Tata Kite sedan in the sub 4 meter segment, would be positioned below the Zest to significantly undercut Honda Amaze, Maruti DZire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and Hyundai Xcent in India in terms of price.
