Italian luxury carmaker Maserati has officially revealed the long-awaited Levante. Set to be unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Levante joins Maserati’s existing range of sedan and sports cars including the Quattroporte, Ghibli, GranTurismo and GranCabrio.

In terms of design, the Levante echoes the Kubang concept but features a different front-end design featuring new, tapered headlights separated into two elements, with the upper headlight unit connected to the radiator grille.

The rear-end, meanwhile, has also been revised and is dominated by the tapered back window and streamlined shape, both typical of a high-performance car.

As for the drivetrain, Maserati has only revealed that the Levante will come equipped with both petrol and diesel engines that are Euro6-compliant. At a more technical level, the SUV will feature a sophisticated electronic suspension with controlled damping and air springs, which can be set on several levels, all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Maserati has announced that the Levante is being built at the Mirafiori plant in Turin; the first cars have already come off the assembly line with the launch planned for later this year in Europe.
