Hyderabad: German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz which is on course to become the country’s numero uno luxury carmaker this fiscal has taken wraps off S 400 luxury sedan, thus expanding its iconic S-Class range in India.

Priced at Rs 1.31 crore (ex showroom, Hyderabad), the sedan which had its national launch in the city on Tuesday is powered by a 3-litre petrol engine that produces 333 bhp peak power and 480 Nm torque that kicks in at 1600 rpm and continues all the way till 4000 rpm. Mated to a seven-speed automatic, this ninth variant of the Mercedes’ flagship sedan offers better fuel efficiency for a luxury car of its size.

“The S 400 will be locally manufactured in our production facility in Chakan, Pune. This is yet another firm affirmation of our vision of ‘Make in India’, and our unwavering commitment to the Indian customer in presenting the best of our global offerings,” said Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, after the launch.

Plush interiors characterised by upscale leather upholstery, seek dashboard and Burmester 3D surround sound system with 24 speakers, while the exterior embodies LED headlamps, large grille and elegant design elements.
