Over 60% of bookings are for the top-end automatic model. The Toyota Innova Crysta bookings have surpassed 15,000 units in a span of 10 days, highlighting the immense popularity the nameplate enjoys in India. The highly impressive response for the new gen model strongly indicates that Toyota’s decision to move its MPV into the premium category has paid off.

The new vehicle is over 4 lakhs more expensive than the retired model (comparing the top-end variants) but has a lot of goodies to show for it. If the momentum continues, the Innova Crysta bookings for the first month would cover several months’ worth production, leading to a long waiting period.

Several early birds are expected to be the existing Innova owners who are upgrading. With a price range of INR 13.83 lakhs to 20.77 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) the Crysta doesn’t compete with the likes of Mahindra Xylo, Renault Lodgy anymore.

It has its eyes set on the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Tata Hexa. It can also be considered as a perceived rival of the bigger SUVs in the INR 20-25 lakh segment.
