The sedan shares its 2.0L diesel engine with the XC90.Pre-bookings for the Volvo S90 are open in India ahead of the sedan’s launch later this year. The latest Volvo comes as an upmarket replacement for the aging S80.

Targeting the likes of Mercedes E Class, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and Audi A6, the S90 would rely on its sophisticated exterior design and luxurious interior to make a strong case for itself.

Based on the Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) that also underpins the XC90, the new sedan benefits from lightweight construction. The India-spec sedan will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The visual highlights of the S90 include sleek LED headlamps with Thor’s Hammer DRLs, clean sheet metal design, C-shaped LED headlamps and a gently arching roofline. Inside, the dashboard design is similar to that of the XC90 which means you get a tablet sized touchscreen infotainment system located on the centre console.

The Volvo S90 will be imported into India as a CBU unlike its rivals which are assembled locally.
