The Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 is one bike which is on fire currently. The bike has been selling like hot cakes and setting the sales charts on fire since its inception.

But it seems like the bike-gods have liked the two-wheeler so much, they decided to literally light the bike on fire in Chennai. Yes we know that Chennai is soaring at this time of the year, but we never imagined that it will get so hot that bikes will spontaneously start catching fire.

A 16 month old Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, which has been ridden for just about 18,500 kms, caught fire in the middle of the road. The rider from Tamil Nadu was going his merry way when the bike started acting funny and particularly uncomfortable. Suddenly he noticed some sort of fire coming out from near the engine.

The biker safely parked the bike on side of the road, complete with a side-stand, and moved away from the burning vehicle. Slowly, the fire engulfed the fuel tank, post which the entire bike was on fire. By the time help arrived, the bike was completely gutted. Locals tried helping by throwing water, but it was of no use.

Talking to the media, the rider mentioned that the bike had no aftermarket modifications such as a wind-horn or any mechanical changes, and it was properly maintained as per schedule. The next servicing was due in another 1500 kms. He told the media that at the time the bike caught fire, he was riding normal city speeds and was on his way to college.

He wasn’t sure about the cause of the fire but thought it could be due to a short circuit. Thankfully, the dealer and Bajaj team have been supportive towards the entire incident. The owner says that the dealer has already promised him a brand new Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 as a replacement.
