As per the test, VW Vento with Electronic Stability Control and Hill Hold has scored a 5/5 rating in ASEAN NCAP.

This is as against the 4/5 rating received by the model in October 2013 when it was earlier known as VW Polo Sedan. ASEAN NCAP carried out frontal offset crash test of Vento Polo Sedan at speeds of 63 kmph.

VW Vento launched in Malaysia is offered in three variants – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. It will be assembled locally by the company’s local partner DRB-Hicom. VW Vento is being offered in five exterior color options of Candy White, Flash Red, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel Grey and Deep Black. Prices range from RM79,888 for VW Vento Trendline, RM86,888 for the Comfortline and RM93,888 for the Highline.

Engine specifications include a 1.6 liter MPi petrol engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which is offered on the Trendline and Comfortline trim while the top end variant Highline gets a 1.2 liter TSI engine mated to a 7 speed DSG. It launches in Malaysia where it competes with the Honda City, Toyota Vios, and Nissan Almera.

Speaking about safety, some of the Indian car manufacturers are under fire from Global NCAP who crash tested some of the Indian cars recently. None of them cleared the test, in fact, all received a 0-star rating for adult occupancy. Below are the crash test videos.
