Hyderabad: Singapore’s Changi International Airport intends to focus on Hyderabad-Singapore as key route for passenger traffic from India.

“We are now laying emphasis on the Singapore-Hyderabad route where the passenger traffic grew from 83,000 in 2010 to about 169,000 in the 12 months leading to September 2014,” Robin Goh, Assistant Vice President (Corporate Communications), Changi Airport Group, told media here on Monday.

According to him, India is seventh largest market for the airport. “We have connectivity with 12 cities in India with over 380 weekly flights. The passenger traffic between Singapore - India in the last 12 months as of September 2014 is about 3.4 million,” he explained. The airport is now looking to tap opportunities in tier 2 cities in the country.

The Changi Airport, a part of Changi Airport Group, is the world's sixth busiest airport for international traffic. It served a record 53.7 million passengers from around the globe in 2013. More than 350 retail stores and 120 F&B outlets are situated across three terminals to cater to passengers and visitors.

“The strong connectivity with the South East Asia and the South West Pacific has contributed towards Changi being Asia’s leading air hub,” Goh said.
