Hyderabad: All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), representing three lakh officers working in public sector, private sector and cooperative banks in the country, has given a call for nationwide strike on December 11, demanding the central government to stop implementation of the recommendations made by P J Nayak Committee.

“All these policies are being implemented with the agenda of destroying the very fiber of public sector character of banks and the social welfare schemes implemented through these public sector banks,” said Harvinder Singh, General Secretary, AIBOC.

Singh elaborated that denial of capital to the public sector banks by the government, hastening implementation of Basel Committee norms and pressures on bank managements to finance infrastructure projects were among the main factors that impacted performance of the banks.
