Hyderabad: Krian Media, a Mumbai-based company specialising in the digital media and cinema services space, launched Media Konnect, an exclusive global media exchange and collaboration platform, in Hyderabad on Friday.
Claiming Media Konnect to be the world’s first platform to provide solutions for all filmmakers across the world, irrespective of their country or the language in which they would like to make their films, Krian Media Founder and President Ranjit Thakur told The Hans India that from scriptwriters to directors to other technicians, every expertise required to make a film would be listed on the free-for-subscription platform as a separate category, and would be validated and authenticated by Media Konnect.
“Each listed entity will be given its own identity to ensure that every expertise is given its due credit, thus acting as a copyright shield,” he added.
Media Konnect, which will be available as a web platform as well as an app on iOS and Android, will be rolled out in eight countries, including India, the US, the UK, France, Mexico, China, West Asia and Japan, within the next two months. These eight countries generate almost 85 per cent of the world’s movie content, Thakur said.
“The biggest challenges in the industry today are the cost of content creation, losses due to lack of market understanding, distribution limitations, and an absence of industry norms. For most filmmakers, the biggest challenge lies in the inability to identify, connect and collaborate with talent across different specialisations at commercially-viable terms needed to turn an idea into reality that can actually be profitable.
Media Konnect looks to address these issues by giving a platform for professionals across a variety of specialisations to connect, discuss and transform the filmmaker’s idea into a film,” he said.
Stating that Krian Media has invested Rs 9 crore in developing Media Konnect through internal accruals, Thakur said the company was currently working on modalities for revenue generation.“We expect two million users to on board the platform in the next two years, and garner around Rs 25 crore annualised revenues, thereon,” he added.
