Hyderabad: City-based TalentSprint, a digital-platform for skill development, on Tuesday announced the launch of data science programme for the working professional managers.

The company has partnered with Kolkata-based Praxis Business School to provide weekend course in data science to managers working in different sectors of Hyderabad. Four million people are employed in IT and ITeS sector in India, while one million are employed in banking sector. As both these sectors are technology centric, the employees need to upscale their skill to retain their jobs, said Dr Santanu Paul, CEO, TalentSprint.

Disruptive technologies like data science, blockchain, fintech, AI and ML have put jobs of over 2 million professionals in risk. “We want to enable one lakh working professionals gain expertise in disruptive technologies in the next five years.

Our data science for managers programme is provided in partnership with Praxis and our foundations of fintech and blockchain programme is provided under partnership with industry leaders like Paytm, PayPal, Ripple, ICICI bank and Indian Angel Network,” added Paul.

According to a forecast by PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), nearly 2.7 million data science and analytical jobs are expected to be created by 2020. “Many companies are looking out for professionals with the knowledge in blockchain technology. And, PNB scam could have been averted if blockchain technology was used in the banking sector. This technology proves the identity of the owner, along with the proof and protection of ownership, also being assisted by blockchain,” Ritesh Modi, a blockchain expert, said.
