Recalls actress Trisha Krishnan about her student life in Chennai

I am the only child to my parents Uma and Krishnan. I was born in Palakkad, Kerala, but was raised in Chennai. I was a pampered, but not a spoilt child. I completed my schooling from the Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Church Park, Chennai. I was extremely good in Mathematics and Computer Science. Naturally, I was a favourite with the teachers. My father used to work in the Gulf and I had great fun during holidays visiting him and the malls and beaches there.

I had more fun in school than in college because it was a short tenure of two and half years. At school, I used to bully and always get punished. I was tall and it was not difficult to act and sound domineering. Most students and even some teachers were petrified of me. Among the crazy things that I did in school was trying to invoke a ‘spirit’ once when I was with my friends. It scared the hell out of them. I've always been intrigued by the supernatural especially UFOs and aliens. I also enjoyed watching heavyweight boxing on TV. During this period she got interested in the ballet dance and she couldn't resist the temptation to join a dance class.

School life gave me more nostalgic memories. School buddies are still my best friends. School to me is like an extended family. If I ever get chance, I would rewind everything.

I did my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Ethiraj College for Women (Chennai), an evening college. I chose that as I could work as a model while studying. No one complained about my modelling career or about missing classes as I was good in academics. I couldn’t spend much time in college, but I enjoyed studying. I always wanted to go abroad for higher studies and enjoy college life, but it ended abruptly as I started working at an early age. But frankly, I have no regrets as I have always got more than I had bargained for.

While I was into modelling during college days, I won the ‘Miss Salem’ beauty pageant and later ‘Miss Madras’ contest. I also won the Miss India 2001 pageant's ‘Beautiful Smile’ award. After I appeared in a couple of advertisements, I was offered ‘Lesa Lesa’, a Tamil movie directed by Priyadarshan, which marked the beginning of my professional career as an actor. Nothing was planned; I took up whatever came my way and made the most of it.
