Nagarjuna in Telugu KBC hot seat, Big Boss, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Telugu KBC Programme. When contacted Nag’s manager Sridhar Reddy said: “I have no information about this. Nagarjuna garu is currently out of the country.
“TV has now become an important medium to reach out to a wider set of audience. I'm open to hosting a TV show. I believe there is a lot of unexploited potential in regional television. National shows like ‘Big Boss’ and ‘24’ have proved that small screen can be as engaging a medium as any other form of entertainment. I’m waiting for an innovative concept to come my way,” said Superstar Nagarjuna recently, clearly announcing his intentions to tread a new path. This statement of the actor seems to have clearly impressed the management of Sony, who have reportedly, got a nod from Nag, to feature in the Telugu version of their hit show, Kaun Banega Crorepati.
The hit TV game show is a based on the UK game show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’? Launched in 2000 in India with Amitabh Bachchan as its host, it not only bailed out the Megastar from his financial troubles but also made him a household name across rural India. While Suriya and Prakash Raj, Puneeth Rajkumar and Suresh Gopi hosted the Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions respectively, Telugu version, ‘Meelo Yevaru Koteeswarudu’, did make some noise, but not as much as it is doing now.
When contacted Nag’s manager Sridhar Reddy said: “I have no information about this. Nagarjuna garu is currently out of the country.” However, it is reliably learnt that the Superstar would be commencing the shoot for the game show shortly as his film with Mani Ratnam is expected to go on floors this rainy season. “He is currently occupied with ‘Manam’, his new film which also stars his late dad Nageswara Rao in the lead role. He would be promoting the film vigorously from March-end and only after its release, he would shift attention to the show,” a source pointed out.
Nag, who is familiar name on TV with own productions such as ‘Pasupu Kunkuma’, ‘Puttinti Pattucheera’ and ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’, would be the only numero uno Tollywood star among his contemporaries to foray into the idiot box as an artiste. The current Telugu TV fold sees familiar Tollywood faces such as Ali, Sai Kumar, Roja, Naga Babu, Meena and Lakshmi Manchu among others.
