Nandamuri Balakrishna achieved what Harikrishna couldn't - a dream entry into politics in true Tollywood style.
Kicked by the success of his latest release Legend, where he played a messiah, Balayya wanted aspired to be the same in real life too. Thus began his political journey where he sought the help of his brother-in-law Chandrababu Naidu to offer him a ticket. Naidu played hard to get but had to give in after pressure from Balayya's fans. Remember Balayya's Simha yatra to celebrate success of Legend?
The senior Telugu actor went temple hopping to offer prayers to Lord Narasimha while at the same time wooing people to choose him as their political leader. His supporters too accorded a warm reception and thus Naidu had no choice but to give Hindupur, where the party enjoys a great support, to Balayya.
It's worth mentioning here that Hindupur has been the NTR family's bastion ever since the late NTR chose the place. The TDP founder won thrice from the region whle his son Harikrishna too contested from Hindupur.
So, it was natural for Balayya to choose this place. While Harikrishna and Jr NTR continue sulking over being neglected by Naidu, Balayya is basking in the glory of the consituency itself.
His political campaigns too are as dramatic as his movies where his entry is marked by loud songs from his recent release. But there's a small hitch - the Muslims who form a majority of electorate in the district is unhappy with the TDP chief's decision to join hands with the saffron party. Thus, the probability of Muslims choosing another party is high. The party would have been better off had it fielded Jr NTR while keeping the BJP-TDP pre-pact poll intact. But that not being the case, it won't be a cake walk for Balayya, who's pinned all hopes on the loyal supporters who have blindly voted for TDP over the years.
Taking note of this, Balayya is trying every bit to woo the minority voters. Should there be a miracle and Balayya win with a majority in the region, then it would be interesting to watch Naidu's next move.
It's a known fact that the TDP chief has always projected his son Na Ra Lokesh as the face of the party, the reason why he did not encourage Jr NTR to get involved in party activities. But now with the entry of Balakrishna, will Naidu have a change of mind?
It's going to be wait and watch for now.
