Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, the inimitable South Indian Music Director, who has mesmerized the music lovers for decades with his melodious composing, shared his views at a Library Inauguration function held in Erode, on Saturday. He said that when he reached Chennai to become a music composer, he arrived there with a small Harmonium Box. But, he said that there was no such need nowadays as everything has become computerized.
Ilaiyaraaja said that nowadays there was no need to tune a song with own ideas. With mere lining up of the beats said Ilaiyaraaja in computer, the tune could be made ready. Further, Ilaiyaraaja said that the lyricists have been stating that they have been experiencing the pain of a mother on delivery. It’s only the mother who knows what delivery pains mean and said that the simple thing like writing a lyric should not be compared with such a great thing, added Ilaiyaraaja.
Ilaiyaraaja said that the lyricists nowadays want to include their own meaningless stuff in the lyric. While saying so he said that he wanted to tell the same openly without any hesitation and said that he never wanted to tell the names of those lyricists openly. He said that in any time period, it was not possible to compose a tune beyond the seven swaras. He said that music has become a business filed so only he didn’t start a music school.
Ilaiyaraaja said that nothing ever should be considered as a victory. If such a thing happens, one will be forced into a corner, added the maestro.
