Newcomer’s spirit is Rahman’s driving force

AR Rahman, who is receiving high praise for his compositions in ‘Ok Bangaram’, a Mani Ratnam film, says that he is forever motivated to bring freshness to his tunes. “People always ask me what is going to be my next as everything is going great. Frankly that’s where the problem lies.

If I start thinking that everything is going great guns, I won’t be motivated to do new things. My work will get stagnated,” he said. He was speaking at a promotional event of the film in Chennai.He added, “The day I feel content, it’s done! That’s the reason I always try to carry the same enthusiasm I had when I began.”

The film will see the acting debut of renowned dance instructor Leela Samson and Mani Ratnam says roping her in was a great achievement. “I wasn’t sure she would say yes. But when she did, everything fell into place. Her performance is infectious and it was such a pleasure working with her,” said the acclaimed filmmaker.
