Success can be momentary. Instrumental in giving Naga Chaitanya his first hit – ‘Ye Maya Chesave’, filmmaker Gautham Menon is likely to join forces with the actor once again.
You can’t predict success in the industry. Everything might fall in place out of the blue and your next might be a blockbuster
– Naga Chaitanya
Instrumental in giving Naga Chaitanya his first hit – ‘Ye Maya Chesave’, filmmaker Gautham Menon is likely to join forces with the actor once again. “Discussions are on but nothing has been finalised. I’ve been waiting to do another film with him for long but it depends upon his availability as he is busy in Tamil,” confides the actor, who was recently seen in ‘Dohchay’.
Reacting to ‘Dohchay’ opening to mixed reviews, the suave actor says, “Maybe it happened because of the way we promoted the film. It led to the audiences assuming it to be a serious flcik. The movie is a light-hearted con entertainer.
The weekend witnessed an increase in the footfalls and I’m happy with the way it is faring.” Admitting that he did feel the script had references to director Sudheer Varma’s earlier venture ‘Swamy Ra Ra’, he states, “When I first heard the story I liked it and felt it would challenge me as an actor.
Sudheer Varma’s strength lay in con dramas and so I couldn’t ask him to churn out a love story, right?”
The actor insists he will continue to take risks as far as his choices of subjects are concerned“Challenging subjects will help you grow as an actor and will create a separate identity.
Dad, very early in his career, experimented with the likes of Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma who were very raw at that point in time. The thing is you never know when an experiment clicks. You believe in the content and move ahead.”
Though it’s been more than six years since he entered the industry, Naga Chaitanya has no big blockbuster to his name but he is least bothered. “My motto has been to give my best to every film. Sometimes things work in your favour and sometimes they don’t but that doesn’t mean you should be disappointed.
I personally feel failures help by identifying the shortcomings of an actor,” he maintains. The actor adds, “You can’t foresee success in the industry. Everything might fall in place out of the blue and your next might be a blockbuster.”
Barring Sukumar, the actor, who will be seen in ‘Karthikeya’ director Chandoo Mondeti’s next, hasn’t teamed with any star director till now. Put that to him, he replies, “Star directors are always a favourable choice as far as career is concerned. I’m open to collaborate with them but it so happens that when they are free I’m busy and when they are busy I’m occupied with a new director.”
