In a Brand new avatar

Swathi Reddy will be seen as a village belle in her forthcoming film ‘Tripura’, a horror thriller. “I play the titular role Tripura. I was excited to shoot for the film since it was my first attempt at horror. After narrating the script, director Rajkiran shared a few true stories too. Of course I was a bit scary but then it (the script) gave me something different to explore,” the actress says.

Swathi will be seen as a married woman in the film, which revolves round a girl whose dreams turn true. “This is the first time I and Naveen Chandra, who plays a doctor, shot for a reel marriage sequence (laughs) and it was pretty crazy. I thoroughly enjoyed that sequence and the entire crew couldn’t but stop laughing.”

Known for her flashy roles, Swathi exudes confidence when she says the audience will take a liking to her new avatar. “I look more mature in the film and that’s the key to enhancing the connectivity levels to the audience. I want to thank my cinematographer in that regard.” Swathi has been on a signing spree in Tamil and Malayalam industries of late.

Put that to her and she responds, “I’m getting exciting roles in those industries, Malayalam in particular--and it’s giving me scope to exhibit my acting prowess. Off-course, working in other industries, besides helping you to know others culture, adds more value to your CV, right?”
