Santosh Sobhan, who has played the lead role in P Ram Mohan’s ‘Thanu Nanu’, says he never expected actress Avika Gor to star alongside him. “I was surprised to be paired opposite her but she made me comfortable.
We got along very well and her performance rubbed on me. She’s a fantastic actress,” said Sobhan at a promotional event of the film in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Talking about his role in the rom-com, Sobhan said, “I play Kiran. He hates the US and hates being disciplined. He falls in love with Keerthi (Avika) and has his own ways of expressing it. He is the today’s guy.”
When asked how he bagged the role, he said, “I met Ram Mohan garu during the recent summer holidays. After coming to know that he was searching for the lead character, I auditioned for it. He liked my performance and we did a work shop for one week. He later selected me to play Kiran.”
The Mass Communication graduate is open to playing supporting roles too. “It was my late father Sobhan’s dream that I become an actor. My passion for cinema comes from him. I’m up for any good role.”
While ‘Thanu Nanu’ has been dubbed a multiplex affair, Santosh insists that it will reach everyone. “The subject will resonate with the audience of every ilk. I’m very confident about it.”
