Uttarakhand-born Sonam Bajwa is making her Tollywood debut opposite Sushanth in ‘Atadukundam Raa’. Talking about her role in the actioner, she says, “I play a simple girl in a joint family who is pampered by everyone. It has a glamorous side too and I will be seen wearing a mix of both South Indian as well as western outfits.”
Recalling how she grabbed the opportunity, “The makers saw my earlier film ‘Kappal’ and narrated me the script. I was pleased with my role and so, agreed to do it,” she reveals, adding, “I had a great time working with Sushanth. He’s a good co-star and bonds well with everyone on the sets.”
Narrating an interesting incident from the sets, she shared, “There was an action sequence which required me to sport a saree and be seated behind Sushanth on a bike. It was a sports bike, so the backseat was uneven. The sequence required Sushanth to take a 360-degree turn quite a few times and since I was sitting sideways, I was shit scared and had my heart in my mouth for the entire episode. My hair, sari, everything was flying off the air but somehow I’ve managed to do it.”
Talking about Tollywood, she says, “Initially I was scared because I was alien to the language and had no clue on how the industry operates. But my team has made the lines easy for me. Now I love to do more films in Telugu because the language is not as tough as I assumed it to be. I have been around Hyderabad and I loved the city. I like the weather and the culture and off-course I indulged in a lot of biriyani. So it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had.” -SA
