Parul Yadav the lanky lass, who is ruling the roost in Kannada film industry will essay a pivotal role in ‘Killing Veerappan’, helmed by Ram Gopal Varma (RGV).
The upcoming feature film, which is slated to release on January 1 in Telugu and Kannada, is based on Operation Cocoon and is about the eponymous killer and forest brigand - Veerappan. Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar is playing the lead in the feature.
The model-turned-actress stepped into the showbiz with soap opera ‘Bhagyavidhaata’. This was followed by several other TV serials. Parul’s foray into silver screen and her fame came with her debut Kannada flick ‘Govindaya Namaha’ (2011), she also bagged Best Debutant award in South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) for the same. Parul also won Best Supporting actress award at SIIMA for her performance in ‘Bachchan’.
Speaking about her role in RGV’s film the actress says, “My character in ‘Killing Veerappan’ is based on a real life character of an common woman, who was randomly picked up by the cops for taking part in operation to kill the forest brigand. Police do such things to people only in certain special operations when they need someone whom nobody will suspect. I can't share the real name of the woman for security reasons.”
‘Killing Veerappan’ will see the actress stepping into dramatic territory and the actress says that as in the name of the operation, filming for this RGV’s directorial was like coming out of a cocoon. “I play very non-glamorous role in the film. There was no make-up at all. People only can see my performance. Every role has a special place in my heart but I can say that this is my optimum performance in ‘Killing Veerappan,” she adds.
This will mark Parul’s official debut in Bollywood, as the multilingual film will also be released in Hindi and Tamil later in January. The actress states that it is not less than a dream debut and she was really excited to work with the fountainhead of new age cinema.
“Many people in the industry and outside the industry told me that it is difficult to work with RGV. I went to the sets with this preconceived notion, which was shattered on day one. And after working with RGV, I can say he is the best director. He preps the actors so well.
He is the person who can make a stone emote. RGV made this film after extensive research and in depth conversation with various people associated with the operations related to Veerappan including this woman, on whom my character is based. But to protect their identities, he changed locations, timelines, names of characters and their geographic placements,” Parul shares.
The actress is very excited about the film and is awaiting therelease with bated breath. “Anybody, who has seen the film will be able to ascertain the fact that this film is the most comprehensive expose on the meticulous planning and behind the scenes that lead to Operation Cocoon and killing Veerappan,” she signs off.
