The launch ceremony of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th film ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ was held amid fanfare in the capital of AP, Amaravati on Friday. The actor, along with the film’s director Krish and politicians graced the launch ceremony of the period drama.

Speaking on the occasion, Balayya, who sported a red dhoti and white Kurta, said, “I’m blessed to get the opportunity to reprise the Amaravati King and the greatest Satavahana ruler. I’m glad that fans are appreciating my attempt to work on a historical drama and it’s a coincidence that it was launched in Amaravati.

I always took my father (late NTR) as my inspiration to play versatile roles and that’s one of the reasons I have zeroed in on this script. Moreover, Sri Gautamiputra Satakarni is a script that every Telugu should know.”

He added, “The word 100th film might sound attention-grabbing but it is the result of hard work from 99 films. I have been dilly-dallying with several scripts but nothing satiated my creative vision. I wanted it to be memorable in Telugu cinema history and that’s the reason I took my time.

But when Krish came up with Gautamiputra plotline, I believed it had everything my fans have been looking for. Much to my surprise, it’s a story that has not been told on the silver screen.

Gautamiputra Satakarni ruled the country from Amaravati and waged wars for peace and never knew what it meant to lose. No language has the history as Telugu does and the film is a step towards telling the greatness of our language”
