Having made a praiseworthy debut three years ago with ‘Prema Ishq Kaadhal’ where he played a Casanova, Harish is now going solo with B Jaya’s ‘Vaisakham’. Shedding light about his part in the romantic drama, he reveals, “I play a level-headed guy who behaves arrogantly with others. He has a purpose behind his nature. He is from an upper middle-class family.”

Ask him why it took so long to green-lit his second movie and he says, “I was offered a lot of films after ‘Prema Isha Kaadhal’ but nothing caught my fancy. I’ve did a film called ‘Tholi Sandhya Velalo’ some time back as I loved my character but it didn’t release. I’m not in a hurry. During the phase where I was waiting for good scripts, I was offered a Tamil film ‘Munnodi.’ Red Giant Movies, a big Tamil production house, was backing it. I liked the script and I did it. I’ve shot for it for eight months.”

So, did he learn Tamil? “I toiled very hard to learn the language. I can’t even express it in words,” he sighs, “I participated in a workshop for 20 days but still found Tamil to be difficult. I felt like I was thrown in a desert. In fact, after the shoot started I felt like running away from the sets but somehow I managed to wrap up the movie. Now, the director wants to me cast in his next too (laughs).”

Three songs of his in-progress ‘Vaisakham’ were shot in Kazakhstan and talking about the experience, he says the team initially wanted to shoot the numbers in April, thinking that the weather would be conducive for filming but as it rained non-stop they kept deferring their plans. “Finally we decided to shoot from May 13 but as soon we touched down Kazakhstan it was freezing. Add to it there were heavy rains too.

Nonetheless, we decided to shoot whenever we got some sun light,” he recalls, adding, “After shooting for three hours on the first day I felt like not taking it any more. But somehow I completed the day’s shoot only to realise later that my body completely went numb. We got acclimatised to the weather only on the fourth day.”
