Manasa to play a naxal

After portraying bubbly and girl next-door roles in her earlier films, actress Manasa (‘Romance’ fame) will be seen as a naxalite in her forthcoming film ‘Appatlo okadu undevadu’, (starring Nara Rohit) directed by Sagar Chandra.

“Initially I was apprehensive but was convinced with my part after listening to the script. It’s an important role brings about a twist in the story and change in the narrative. I play Ahalya, a strong woman who fights for the notion she believes in; it’s a role that has grey shades and interesting turns. I’m thrilled to get an opportunity to work such a role at an early stage of my career,” says Manasa, who also did a Tamil and Kannada film.

How difficult was it shooting for the part? Manasa reveals, “It wasn’t as easy as I thought . We had to shoot in dense forests, and most time shooting nights and it made me feel insomniac (smiles). I have a couple of action sequences too and hurt myself training for them and my body took a toll while shooting. But imbibing the body language of a Maoist was a completely different experience! I’m also part of a special song and hopefully people will see my new side.” -SA
