Brand Rajamouli seems to be at its peak as his much-hyped epic fantasy surpasses Day One box-office collections of Megastar Chiranjeevi ‘Khaidi No 150’ (Rs 23.24 crore) and Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Katamarayudu’ (Rs 22.27 crore) and NTR’s ‘Janatha Garage’ (Rs 20.49 crore) by a huge margin in two Telugu states.
According the trade circles, the magnum opus starring Prabhas, Anushka and Rana has reportedly established an unbeatable record in the annals of Telugu cinema. “Brand Rajamouli is soaring high and becoming invincible since crowds are thronging theatres in large numbers to watch his epic fantasy.
With due respect to stars Prabhas and Rana, it is Rajamouli’s vision all the way, since opulent sets, scintillating performances and breath-taking action sequences have gripped the viewers and it has grossed more than Rs 45 crores in two Telugu states,” says distributor Vasu of Guntur
The trade circles expect the film to gross Rs 35 crore in Hindi, Rs 6 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs 10 crore in Karnataka and Rs 4 crore in Kerala and $5.56 million in US on Day One.
“‘Rajamouli’s popularity is expanding from Andhra to America and Kashmir to Kanyakumari which no Telugu director have ever achieved or going to achieve in near future,’ says distributor Ramakrishna from Chittoor.
In two Telugu states, numerous benefit shows with Rs 2,000 per ticket has bolstered its collections and additional shows in singles screens helped the film to emerge a big winner and enabling it to surpass the first day collections of big stars like Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Jr NTR and Mahesh Babu,” he adds.
Although, the film has received mixed response among viewers in TS and AP, distributor Trinath of Telangana adds “Such reports are not going to affect the collections for opening week since viewers want to watch the film first and then want to hear anything about the film, that’s the trust they have placed on Rajamouli & team,” he adds.
Even multiplexes are screening 25-odd shows every day and adding to the craze and collections in a big way. “Visit any of the four or five multiplexes in various cities and you will find Baahubali 2 in all the screens and it will boost revenues,” concludes Srinivas of Telangana.
