Noted film producer Allu Arvind made it clear that Tollywood’s image is getting tarnished because of the drug addiction of 10 young stars. He apprehended that it would spread to others soon.

“If the young stars feel that their activities are unknown they are wrong. The State government and Tollywood industry are keeping tabs on such activities. If the young stars did not kick the habit, the repercussions would be severe,” he warned.

Responding to reports of some stars and their drug addiction, Arvind, speaking to media on Wednesday on behalf of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, said that the drug habit spread to Tollywood from high-flying Mumbai.

In rave parties, one or two will get separated from the rest and attract the rest towards them, he said adding that those who attend the parties just for the sake of it are soon getting addicted to drugs.

Adding to it, ace producer D Suresh Babu termed drugs harmful to the society and called for sensitising drug addicts on ill-effects of the narcotics. “A healthy atmosphere should prevail in T-town and the onus to safeguard it is on everybody’s shoulders,” adds Suresh Babu.

Movie Artistes’ Association president Sivaji Raja said that drugs should be driven out of the industry by sensitising one and all on the menace. Other members of actors guild were also present.
