Everything is going great until the censor reports have started emerging. The film is too long at 179 minutes run-time and audience are not accustomed to watching such long films until they are as good as Dangal or Arjun Reddy.
On top of it, the movie's second half is said to be pale in comparison to first hour. While the comedy and romance is well-crafted enough, the serious parts lag the film it seems. Hence, from censors, the talk was not enthusiastical good, but a more subvert OK. Also, the period setting has not gone well with some of the viewers.
This has become a concern for Distributors as UV Celluloid is said to have paid 18 crores for Nizam Rights and several distributors paid 32 crores for Andhra territories. They are trying to get as many share guarantees and fixed hires from third parties to recover costs in the first weekend itself.
Also, in Overseas, mainly in USA, the movie is losing on cashing in on craze with premieres due to run-time. Distributors are a bit concerned about it in North American territories too.
Well, if the movie clicks everything could end up as happy dream otherwise, if Sukumar's old movies that made Nannaku Prematho and Nenokkadine, have limited appeal, Rangasthalam could end up a Rana-sthalam of nightmares for distributors.
