A 27-year-old widow was raped at the railway yard in the city in the wee hours of Tuesday.
A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was allegedly involved in the dastardly act.
According to Government Railway Police (GRP), the woman who was traveling from Tirupati to Rajahmundry alighted at Vijayawada junction and entered a wrong train on platform no.
3 by mistake which went into the yard.
After the train stopped for cleaning, she tried to get her way out.
Four men including a guard who were in the yard then, noticed her and took advantage of the situation.
It is said that three of them raped her while the other stood the guard. After the act, she managed to return to the platform in the same train. She lodged a complaint at the railway police station.
The vicitm is a native of Edida village in Mandapeta mandal in East Godavari district.
She got into a wrong passenger train to Rajahmundry at the platform 3 of Vijayawada station. She lost her husband two years ago; he was a truck driver.
Railway Police CI G V Vinay Mohan said they booked cases under the Section 376 (D) of Nirbhaya Act.
It is said that she accused an RPF cop working in Gudur in Nellore district, two cleaners raped her and another guy guarded the act.
Though the police deny that they had not arrested the accused yet, sources said that the police took all the four into custody and were questioning them.
