Karimnagar: In a cine-style robbery, four persons snatched away Rs 46 lakh from State Bank of India’s Choppadandi mandal branch on Saturday morning, after threatening staff at gun-point. The daring incident occurred around 9 am before the bank opened for the day. As the watchman was busy cleaning, the four entered through the backdoor. They threatened branch manager, assistant manager, a cashier and a contract employee with guns. They called the watchman to come inside and switch on the generator. As he, they overpowered him and tied him up.
They took keys from the staff and opened the locker and made away with Rs 46 lakh booty on their bikes. They also carried away the CC camera modem.
They snatched mobile phones of customers who visited the branch and forced to sit on the floor.
Manager Visheshwar Rao said the brigands conversed in Hindi. On receipt of news, police rushed to the branch and took up investigation. SP Shivakumar said that they were able to recover the CCTV footage using the hard disk back-up.
