Hyderabad: Five persons wanted in separate cases for allegedly indulging in house-breaking and chain-snatching cases were arrested on Friday. Police recovered a stolen booty of 1.8 kg of gold ornaments and 3.2 kg of silver articles all worth Rs 65 lakh from their possession, police said.

“With the arrest of notorious house breaking offenders Syed Hameed, 33, of Adilabad and C Koteshwar Rao, 33, of Guntur besides chain-snatching offenders Md Khaleel, 23, of Karimnagar, Orada Raju, 38, of Medak district and K Srinivas Reddy, 22, of Anantapur, police has detected 50 cases of house breaking and 26 cases of chain-snatching reported in different parts of the city,” Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said.

Accused Syed Hameed and Koteshwar Rao, ex-convicts, were involved in 46 house breaking offences while Khaleel and Raju, also ex-offenders, were involved in 26 chain-snatching, besides four house breaking offences, two automobile theft cases and two murder cases under different police station limits. Another accused Srinivas Reddy, who was involved in six house breaking and wanted in two motor vehicle theft cases, served jail terms in the past, the senior official disclosed to the media.

Several NBWs were pending against all the four accused in police stations of Cyberabad and Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, police informed.
