Hyderabad: Cracking down on road racing on the city outskirts, Narsingi police took into custody around 80 youngsters who allegedly held motorcycles races on Gandipet road on Sunday morning. Police seized as many as 32 motorcycles.

Police said the bikers mostly students were caught when they were conducting on Gandipet Road on Sunday. They were driving rashly and in a negligent manner on the stretch endangering the lives of motorists and pedestrians on the road, Narsingi sub-inspector Dhananjay said.

During interrogation, they told the police they were racing for a prize of Rs 1,000, he said, adding that they were on a look out for others who fled, abandoning their vehicles during the raid. He further added that a counselling session was conducted for the youngsters in the presence of their parents.
