Acting on tip-off, the cops nabbed Bandaru Hanumanthu Rayudu alias Hanumanthu alias Sanjeev, 35, near Gandhi Statue in Chilkalguda area around 11 am when he was waiting to meet his friend, Areef Khan of Bandlaguda.

“Hanumanthu was born and brought up in P Reddy Kottala in Anantapur district of AP and joined the People’s War Group (PWG) as a member in Ganapathi Dalam (Ramagiridalam) drawing inspiration from his sister, Sridevi and brother-in-law Narasimha Reddy,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, N Koti Reddy said.

In 1995, he surrendered before the CK Pally police in Anantapur district quitting the PWG. Later in 1997, his brother-in-law gave him a pistol with three live rounds for self-protection. Since then, he was carrying the firearm and on Tuesday he was caught with the pistol, Reddy said.
