Hyderabad: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly forced into prostitution by her mother, sister and brother-in-law for money, police said on Thursday. The minor girl, who managed to escape from her house in Yakutpura on Wednesday, approached the police and lodged a complaint with the help of People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), Falaknuma police inspector M Surender said.

“She is now mentally unstable. There is already a case against her brother-in-law who had earlier sold his daughter from his first wife to an Arab,” said PUCL president Jaya Vindhyala.

Police recorded the statement of the girl wherein she accused her mother, elder sister and brother-in-law Mohammed Akbar of forcing her into flesh trade. The victim also alleged that she was beaten up by the family members and was sold to a Gulf national a week ago in Goa. However, she managed to escape from Goa and returned to Hyderabad.

The victim earlier told media that her mother and brother-in-law allegedly forced her into prostitution for the past one year and she was sent to Goa, Pune, Mumbai and other areas in Hyderabad for money.

A case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC has been registered and the trio has also been charged under provisions of Immoral Trafficking Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police officer said.

“We have some credible information and will soon nab the accused who are still at large,” the inspector said.
