The incident took place on December 1 near Gandicheruvu in Hayathnagar mandal on the outskirts of Hyderabad but came to light on Wednesday after the 22-year-old victim lodged a police complaint.

The accused, Linga Reddy and Srinivas Reddy, both residents of Peddamberpet area were arrested under Section 376 (D) of the IPC and Nirbhaya Act. They were produced in Ranga Reddy court and were remanded in judicial custody. “The main accused Linga Reddy, working as a welder and sometimes as a cab driver with his friend Srinivas Reddy, a bike mechanic, accosted the girl and her boyfriend when they were together at a secluded place on Monday afternoon.

The two men, who were reportedly drunk, beat up the youth and drove him away. Then they raped the victim in turns and threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to police,” Hayathnagar ACP Bhaskar said adding that based on the clues given by the victim and through cell phone tracking police narrowed down on the suspects and nabbed them. The cell phone they used to capture the girl's pictures has been sent to a Forensic Science Laboratory for examination, the ACP added.
