Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police on Monday sought 15-day custody of the suspected ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) recruit, Salman Mohiuddin, from the court for custodial interrogation. According to sources, police sought the 32-year-old Hyderabad-based engineer’s custodial interrogation for 15 days saying he was required to be quizzed to ascertain the identities of other members of the dreaded outfit and to interrogate him on charges on waging war against a country.

Salman was on his way to Dubai to reach Syria to join ISIS for training when he was detained by RGIA police on January 15 and consequently arrested. He was sent to judicial custody on January 16. He was arrested under specific sections of the IPC, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the IT Act.

Officials of Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Cyberabad Police felt that they did a stupendous job by nabbing Salman, a propagandist of the ISIS ideology, as he could have been dangerous since he was actively plotting terror activities in India. The officials say that he was in constant touch with youths persuading them to join ISIS. The IB has been going through the electronic communication involving Salman. Sources also said the electronic gadgets possessed by him were sent to forensic department for data retrieval which was reportedly deleted by Salman.
