6 held for selling fake medicines

Six persons have been arrested by the Punjagutta police on Friday for allegedly supplying spurious medicines to gullible customers. Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested Vasam Sashidhar, 40, Durga Shankar Rao, 47, Shekar Madepalli, 40, Sampath Kumar, 36, Moku Karunakar Reddy, 26 and Eedulakanti Srinivas Reddy, 27.

Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested Vasam Sashidhar, 40, Durga Shankar Rao, 47, Shekar Madepalli, 40, Sampath Kumar, 36, Moku Karunakar Reddy, 26 and Eedulakanti Srinivas Reddy, 27.
They also seized fake medicines from their possession. The accused purportedly told the police that the drugs were procured from Bengaluru from other gang members who are still at large. “They tried to sell the same in open market for Rs 30 lakh,” DCP (W) A Venkateshwara Rao said adding that efforts have been made to nab the absconding persons.
