Visakhapatnam: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam district and taken to Tirupati where she was repeatedly raped for a week. The accused is said to be son of a senior political leader of Anakapalle town.

The girl had returned to her home on Wednesday night and narrated the incident to her parents. Giving details of the incident, the police said Madala Harsha (21), befriended the class-IX student in an internet centre at Anakapalle and offered to help her in getting a scholarship.

Claiming to be highly influential, he pretended to be in love with her and asked her to accompany him to Tirupati on February 10 where he allegedly married her. The girl’s parents earlier had lodged a complaint with Anakapalle town police station stating that their girl had been missing and might have been kidnapped.

The Anakapalle town police led by Inspector G Chandra initially registered a missing case on February 11. Police said that based on the victim’s parents latest complaint, they have registered a case against Harsha under Section 376 of IPC under various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) of 2012. The girl has been brought to King George Hospital for medical tests.

The police are yet to arrest him. Victim’s father told reporters that Harsha held a polytechnic diploma certificate and he used to visit an internet center to trap the girls. His daughter was the latest victim. Harsha had earlier kidnapped two minor girls and one of them hailed from Odisha.
