The fifth-standard student was accused of assisting an alleged theft and was kept at the Wardhannapet police station.Hailing from a tribal community, the boy stays at a government-run social welfare hostel for SC/ST children in the district.
A video was shot showing the boy shackled alongside two other men and reacting to it immediately, Warangal Superintendent of Police Kishore Jha informed that the boy was released and sent back with his guardians to his hostel.
Sudeep Laktakia, Director General of Police has ordered the suspension of the Sub-Inspector of Wardhannapet police station; in-charge at the time of the incident in the station.
