Woman robbed of 1.5 kg gold in train

A 50-year-old woman travelling in first class by Duronto Express train was robbed of 1.49 kg gold on Friday. The theft took place somewhere near Vijayawada, sources said.According to railway police, Nagaseshu Venu noticed that her bag containing gold was missing which she kept under her pillow when she slept. She realised this only after the train reached Warangal railway station.

The theft took place somewhere near Vijayawada, sources said.According to railway police, Nagaseshu Venu noticed that her bag containing gold was missing which she kept under her pillow when she slept. She realised this only after the train reached Warangal railway station.

She immediately brought this to the notice of TTE and lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) after the train reached Secunderabad railway station. However, police suspect that the theft might have taken place near Vijayawada railway station as that was the only halt between Visakhapatnam, where she boarded the train. The train was on its way to Secunderabad from Visakhapatnam.
